Spencer made his First Holy Communion yesterday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. It was one of the most memorable and prideful days of my life. I'm so proud of my boy as he truly begins his walk of faith with the Lord. He is just beginning to understand the powerful love God has for him. I hope it's a day Spencer will remember. We are so blessed to have family and friends who will help support Spencer walk through this lifelong journey.
Getting some help from Daddy for the big day. Learning how to tie a tie.
Hugs from Papa McDonough who came in from Kentucky to watch Spencer on his special day.
Not sure what this conversation was about, but probably a reminder from Papa about how to take the host, what to say, etc.
We were not allowed to take pictures during the service. I hope the photographer they had there got some good pictures. This is the altar before mass.
Spencer's First Communion Banner hanging with some of the other kids' banners.

Spencer and his Godmother, Aunt Kimmy.
Spencer with Jack, Evan and Maggie.
A congratulatory hand shake from Papa.
A quick stop at the church reception. These are Spencer's Sunday School teachers.
Matthew and I with the special guy. After the First Communion we went to Aunt Kimmy's for a lunch celebration.
Evan loving on Leah.
He took a long while to open his presents. He enjoyed reading all the cards and really loved all the presents.
Opening the gift we got him.
He was so happy to see what it was. A miniature version of the necklace Daddy wears every day. It was so cute watching him realize he now had one just like Matthew. He asked, "Mom, is this waterproof?" He wants to 'never take it off' - just like his Dad.
I was a proud Mom that Spencer took the time to read what everyone wrote in the cards before ripping open the presents. Even though it took three years to get through them all, he remembered his manners. Good boy, Bubba!
Jack-man and Maggie-Moo.
Sticker from the gift from Great Grandma Gallup got Spencer found a perfect spot on Evan's forehead. It was an awesome gift she chose, a St. Christopher necklace with Spencer's name and date of his First Communion on the back. I know he will treasure that gift.
And finally, cake time.
Spencer, you are a loved child. May God continue to bless you all the days of your life. We love you!
